The AfroVillage Home

The AfroVillage Home will be an innovative village model based on equity and collective ownership.

The AfroVillage will provide transitional housing and basic services to its residents. This self-made, self-sustained, and self-managed village will also send a powerful message of hope and justice against the history of displacement and racism that continues to impact Black Communities in Portland and across the country.

Designed with attention toward cultural expression, the Hub will primarily serve people experiencing homelessness, focusing on BIPOC individuals and women. It will be a safe space to heal, restore, and rejuvenate by providing care-based services, such as laundry, gardens, and massage therapy, to its residents. It will operate through sustainable net-zero, clean energy, and solar-powered solutions.
